
Temperatures in central and southern England could hit 30°C on Thursday possibly a new first day of May record since 1990, when temperatures were 27.4°C. It will be the hottest start to May on record. The Met Office also expects Thursday to be the hottest day but that temperatures will begin to fall a little from Friday although still above average.
London is expected to reach highs of 28°C on Thursday with more sun, The Scottish Sun reports. Other areas including the Midlands and Wales are expected to reach around 25°C and above 20°C, respectively. Scotland and Northern Ireland will be cooler with highs of between 12°C and 15°C.
